Over 30,000 MWe of diesel power generation is installed world-wide and is the technology of choice for distributed generation, particularly in the developing world. This installed capacity has been growing by 1500 – 3000 MWe annually to meet surging demand.

Refuelling of diesel power plants with MSAR^® offers generators an excellent opportunity to reduce energy costs versus conventional liquid fuels, whilst using existing HFO supply infrastructure.

The use of oil-in-water emulsion fuels in diesel engines is fully proven. Wärtsilä have over 150,000 hours of experience with emulsion-fuelled power. A 160 MWe facility in Central America has ten Wärtsilä 18V46 engines coupled to air pollution control equipment to meet stringent World Bank Standards.

Successful performance tests have been completed by Wärtsilä using MSAR^® fuel.
