The origins of Quadrise Fuels International (QFI) lie with a group of former British Petroleum (BP) specialists who worked together with PDVSA, the national oil company of Venezuela, to produce and commercialise an oil-in-water emulsion fuel that could be burned in power boilers. The new fuel, Orimulsion^®, established a worldwide market in excess of 6 million tonnes per annum.

Quadrise Limited was formed in the early 1990’s by this same group of former BP specialists who then further developed the concepts to produce MSAR^® (Multiphase Superfine Atomised Residue), a more flexible fuel with superior combustion characteristics. In 2006 Quadrise Limited was incorporated into QFI, which at the same time became listed on the London AIM market through a reverse takeover (RTO) of Zareba plc. QFI is incorporated and registered in the UK and operates worldwide.
